A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of September 18 through 24, 2016, as
"Surgical Technologist Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Surgical technologists play a vital role in the care
and health of surgical patients in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and
surgical or operating room technicians, are members of operating
room teams, which most commonly include surgeons,
anesthesiologists and circulating nurses, and, under the
supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical
personnel, surgical technologists assist medical operations in a
number of capacities; and
WHEREAS, All major hospitals in this Commonwealth employ
surgical technologists to work with surgeons in the operating
room to provide quality patient care; and
WHEREAS, As the Baby Boomer Generation, which accounts for a
