INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing September 11, 2015, as "Keystone Wounded Warrior
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, According to a February 2013 Congressional Research
Service report entitled "U.S. Military Casualty Statistics:
Operation New Dawn, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation
Enduring Freedom," 50,450 United States service members have
been wounded since Operation Iraqi Freedom first began; and
WHEREAS, From 2002 to December 2012, 103,792 service members
who were deployed in these conflicts were diagnosed with post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and 253,330 service members
were diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury of some kind; and
WHEREAS, As a result of battle injuries, 1,715 service
members received wounds that required amputations and 1,493 have

lost major limbs; and
WHEREAS, According to the Department of Defense, as of
January 9, 2013, 235 service members have died of self-inflicted
wounds while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation New
Dawn and 97 have died of self-inflicted wounds while serving in
Operation Enduring Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2009, Keystone Wounded Warriors is an
eastern Pennsylvania-based nonprofit corporation that seeks to
honor the daily sacrifices made by the brave men and women in
all branches of the United States Armed Forces and specifically
focuses on those wounded on or after September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Keystone Wounded Warriors aids Pennsylvania Wounded
Warriors by raising public awareness and seeking public support
of programs and services that assist our wounded warriors as
they transition back to civilian life; and
WHEREAS, Keystone Wounded Warriors provide direct resources
for daily needs such as groceries and personal items for wounded
warriors and their families, help to provide specialized
physical training and goal setting to ensure our wounded
warriors have the opportunity to stay active and provide
counseling and mentorship by working with local veterans'
counseling centers; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
September 11, 2015, as "Keystone Wounded Warrior Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the
residents of this great Commonwealth to support groups such as
Keystone Wounded Warriors to ensure that the many sacrifices of
our brave servicemen and servicewomen are not forgotten.
