AN ACT
Providing for the display of notice of business discounts for
veterans and military personnel.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Short title.
This act shall be known and may be cited as the Business
Support for Veterans and Military Personnel Act.
Section 2. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Business entity." A for-profit corporation, limited
liability company, partnership, limited liability partnership,
association or other organization that conducts business in this
Commonwealth.
"Discount." A benefit granted voluntarily by a business in
the form of a percentage off or a cash discount subtracted from

the price of a good or service.
"National Guard." Any of the following:
(1) The Army National Guard of the United States.
(2) The Air National Guard of the United States.
(3) The Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
(4) The Pennsylvania Air National Guard.
"Veteran or military personnel." An individual who was or is
in active service in any of the armed forces of the United
States, including a National Guard or reserve component.
Section 3. Discount.
(a) Display.--A business entity that offers a discount to a
veteran or military personnel shall display the nature of the
discount:
(1) in a public and conspicuous location at each place
of business for the business entity; and
(2) on its Internet website, if the business entity
offers the sale of the good or service on its Internet
website.
(b) Verification.--Before a discount is granted, a business
entity may request verification of an individual's status as a
veteran or military personnel.
(c) Limitation.--Nothing in this act shall be deemed to
require a business entity to provide a discount for a veteran or
military personnel.
Section 4. Effective date.
This act shall take effect immediately.
