AN ACT
Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in discipline, removal
and retirement of judicial officers, further providing for
automatic retirement on age.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 3351 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
§ 3351. Automatic retirement on age.
Judges and magisterial district judges shall be retired upon
attaining the age of [70] 75 years.
Section 2. The Secretary of the Commonwealth shall transmit
to the Legislative Reference Bureau, for publication in the
Pennsylvania Bulletin, notice of adoption of an amendment to
section 16(b) of Article V of the Constitution of Pennsylvania
which provides for mandatory retirement at 75 years of age.
Section 3. This act shall take effect as follows:
(1) Section 2 of this act and this section shall take
effect immediately.

(2) The amendment of 42 Pa.C.S. § 3351 shall take effect
upon publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin of the notice
under section 2 of this act.
