A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of May 2013 as "Historic Preservation
2Month" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, The National Trust for Historic Preservation
4dedicates May to raising awareness for preservation issues all
5across the country; and
6WHEREAS, The mission of the National Trust for Historic
7Preservation is to provide support and encouragement for
8grassroots preservation efforts; and
9WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is rich in history and works diligently
10through Preservation Pennsylvania to preserve our Commonwealth's
11heritage; and
12WHEREAS, Preservation Pennsylvania was established in 1982 by
13the General Assembly to restore and rehabilitate Pennsylvania's
14historic properties that its citizens hope to maintain into the
15future; and
16WHEREAS, Preservation efforts go beyond saving old buildings
1and telling the story of the past, it enhances our sense of
2community and brings us closer together; and
3WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is the birthplace of our great nation
4and has a long story to share with American citizens and the
5world; therefore be it
6RESOLVED, That the Senate designate May 2013 as "Historic
7Preservation Month" in Pennsylvania and recognize Pennsylvania's
8strong history, which provides the Commonwealth with a rich
9heritage that contributes to the quality of life and knowledge
10for current and future generations.
