A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the month of March 2013 as "National Athletic
2Training Month" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Quality health care is vital for individuals
4involved in physical activity; and

5WHEREAS, Licensed athletic trainers have a long history of
6providing quality health care for athletes and persons engaged
7in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge and
8skills acquired through nationally regulated educational
9processes; and

10WHEREAS, Athletic training involves prevention of injuries,
11recognition, evaluation and aggressive rehabilitation, health
12care administration, education, research and guidance; and

13WHEREAS, Athletic training was recognized by the American
14Medical Association in 1990 as an allied health care profession;
15and

16WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
17represents and supports the more than 30,000 members of the
18athletic training profession employed in professional sports,

1colleges and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals,
2corporate and industrial settings and the military; and

3WHEREAS, Leading organizations have joined together to raise
4public awareness of athletic training and to emphasize the
5importance of quality health care for athletes and persons
6engaged in physical activity, with the aim of improving health
7care for athletes and physically active people and promoting
8licensed athletic trainers as allied health professionals;
9therefore be it

10RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of March 2013
11as "National Athletic Training Month" in Pennsylvania.
