AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of June 19, 1931 (P.L.589, No.202), entitled,
2as amended, "An act to promote the public health and safety,
3by providing for the examination and licensure of those who
4desire to engage in the profession of barbering; regulating
5barber shops and barber schools, and students therein;
6regulating compensation for service rendered; conferring
7certain powers and duties on the Department of State; and
8providing penalties," providing for authorization of barber
9school as institution of postsecondary education.

10The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
11hereby enacts as follows:

12Section 1. The act of June 19, 1931 (P.L.589, No.202),
13referred to as the Barbers' License Law, is amended by adding a
14section to read:

15Section 12.1. A barber school shall be recognized and
16authorized as an institution of postsecondary education if it
17meets the the following conditions:

18(1) The school admits as regular students only those
19individuals who are either beyond the age of compulsory
20education or have a high school diploma or a diploma based on
21passing general educational development (GED) tests or their

1equivalent.

2(2) The school is licensed by name and authorized by the
3department and the board under this act to offer one or more
4training programs beyond the secondary level.

5Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
