AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for organization of commission.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Section 301(a) and (c) of Title 34 of the
6Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:

7§ 301. Organization of commission.

8(a) Composition.--The independent administrative commission
9known as the Pennsylvania Game Commission shall consist of eight
10competent citizens of this Commonwealth who shall be well
11informed on the subject of wildlife conservation and restoration
12and who shall be appointed by the Governor, by and with the
13advice and consent of [two-thirds] a majority of the elected
14members of the Senate.

16(c) Term of office and compensation.--The members of the
17commission shall hold office for terms of [eight years each and
18may continue to hold office for a period of time not to exceed

1six months or] four years and until a successor is appointed and
2qualified.[, whichever occurs first. A member of the commission
3appointed to fill a vacancy for a period of four years or less
4may be eligible for appointment to a full eight-year term. A
5member of the commission who serves a full eight-year term or
6fills a vacancy for a period of more than four years shall not
7be eligible for reappointment to the commission until a period
8of eight years expires.] Commissioners shall receive no
9compensation for their services, but may be reimbursed for
10travel expenses.

12Section 2. The following shall apply:

13(1) Except as provided under paragraph (2), the
14amendment of 34 Pa.C.S. § 301(a) and (c) shall apply to
15members of the Pennsylvania Game Commission who are appointed
16on or after the effective date of this section.

17(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), a member of the
18Pennsylvania Game Commission who serves a full eight-year
19term or fills a vacancy for a period of more than four years
20shall be eligible for reappointment to the commission at any
21time.

22Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
