1Designating and adopting the River City Brass Band as the
2official brass band of Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Since 1981, the River City Brass Band has been
4helping to keep the tradition of the American Brass Band alive,
5performing a regular concert season of 42 concerts in
6southwestern Pennsylvania and 20 to 30 special concerts
7throughout the United States; and

8WHEREAS, Over 100,000 fans annually enjoy a repertoire that
9includes a diverse selection of America's favorites, including
10classical, Broadway and marching tunes; and

11WHEREAS, Because of its unique status as the only full-time,
12professional performing brass band in Pennsylvania, its
13commitment to the American Brass music genre and strong roots in
14western Pennsylvania, the River City Brass Band can be an
15effective tourism tool and ambassador for Pennsylvania at home
16and abroad; and

17WHEREAS, The mission of the River City Brass Band is to
18propagate and perpetuate musical culture, primarily American

1musical culture, across a broad spectrum of the public through
2the presentation of brass band performances, educational
3programs and the production of recordings.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Official brass band of Pennsylvania.

7The River City Brass Band is hereby designated and adopted as
8the official brass band of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

9Section 2. Effective date.

10This act shall take effect in 60 days.
