AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled,
2as amended, "An act relating to counties of the first, third,
3fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending,
4revising, consolidating and changing the laws relating
5thereto; relating to imposition of excise taxes by counties,
6including authorizing imposition of an excise tax on the
7rental of motor vehicles by counties of the first class; and
8providing for regional renaissance initiatives," further
9providing for applicability and for the abolishment of the
10office of jury commissioner.

11The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12hereby enacts as follows:

13Section 1. Section 102(a) of the act of August 9, 1955
14(P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, amended December
1515, 2011 (P.L.442, No.108), amendment declared unconstitutional,
16No.66 MAP 2012 (Pa. 2013), is amended to read:

17Section 102. Applicability.--(a) Except incidentally, as in 
18sections 108, 201, 210, 211, 401 and 1401 or as provided in 
19Article XXX, this act does not apply to counties of the first, 
20second A, or second classes.

1Section 2. Section 401(f) of the act, added December 15,
22011 (P.L.442, No.108), amendment declared unconstitutional,
3No.66 MAP 2012 (Pa. 2013), is reenacted and amended to read:

4Section 401. Enumeration of Elected Officers.--

6(f) After review of the procedures in effect within the
7county to ensure that lists of potential jurors are a
8representative cross section of the community, the governing
9body of a county of the second class A or third through eighth
10class may adopt, by a majority vote, a resolution abolishing the
11office of jury commissioner. Upon approval of the resolution,
12the office of jury commissioner shall expire at the completion
13of the current jury commissioners' terms of office. [The
14resolution shall not be passed in any year in which the office
15of jury commissioner is on the ballot.]

16Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
