A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the Congressional
2Sportsmen's Foundation.

3WHEREAS, The mission of the Congressional Sportsmen's
4Foundation (CSF) is to work with Congress, governors and state
5legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling,
6recreational shooting and trapping; and

7WHEREAS, CSF was founded in 1989 to provide support and
8information for the bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus
9(CSC), which is recognized as the largest and most effective
10bipartisan caucus in Congress; and

11WHEREAS, Driven by its success at the Federal level, CSF
12launched the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) in
132004; and

14WHEREAS, NASC is a network of state legislative sportsmen's
15caucuses that is affiliated with 43 states and with a membership

1base of over 2,000 state legislators; and

2WHEREAS, In 2009, CSF launched the bipartisan Governors
3Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC), now with 29 members, to further
4complement the work of the CSC and NASC by facilitating
5communication and information exchange between participating
6offices in support of legislation and regulations that support
7the nation's outdoor heritage; and

8WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a rich, time-honored tradition
9of hunting and angling that has been passed down through the
10generations; and

11WHEREAS, In 2011, over 1.4 million sportsmen and women hunted
12or fished in this Commonwealth, which generated $2.5 billion in
13total economic activity and supported nearly 25,000 jobs; and

14WHEREAS, Through the American System of Conservation Funding,
15this Commonwealth's sportsmen and women contributed nearly $90
16million last year alone to the Game Commission and the Fish and
17Boat Commission, which are the primary managers of this
18Commonwealth's fish and wildlife resources and habitat; and

19WHEREAS, Over the last 25 years, CSF has consistently
20provided critical information and support for pro-sportsmen
21elected officials at Federal and state levels to ensure the
22voice of the American sportsman and woman is always heard in the
23halls of government; therefore be it

24RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
2525th anniversary of the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation.
