A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing 2014 as "Junior Achievement's 75th Anniversary" in
2Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is the world's largest
4organization dedicated to educating students about work force
5readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through
6experiential, hands-on programs; and

7WHEREAS, More than 6,000 business, community and parent
8volunteers touch the lives of more than 250,000 students each
9year from kindergarten through grade 12 in public and private
10school systems in this Commonwealth with a message of hope and
11prosperity for the future and prepare them to be the workers,
12leaders and educated consumers of tomorrow; and

13WHEREAS, Junior Achievement volunteers have contributed more

1than 5,900,000 hours of their time to impact over 4,424,500
2students in nearly 187,300 classrooms in this Commonwealth
3during the last 60 years; and

4WHEREAS, In Junior Achievement, programs help prepare
5students for the real world by showing them how to generate
6wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make
7their communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial
8thinking to the workplace; and

9WHEREAS, Junior Achievement empowers students to own their
10economic success; and

11WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the boundless
12potential of students; is committed to the principles of market-
13based economics and entrepreneurship; is passionate for what it
14does while practicing honesty, integrity and excellence;
15respects the talents, creativity, perspectives and backgrounds
16of all individuals; believes in the power of partnership and
17collaboration; and has conviction in the educational and
18motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning; and

19WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by
20strengthening communities with proven programs that focus on
21work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy; and

22WHEREAS, In 2014 Junior Achievement commemorates the 75th
23anniversary of its founding in this Commonwealth; therefore be
24it

25RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Junior
26Achievement for its many contributions to the economic vitality
27of this Commonwealth; and be it further

28RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
29Dennis Gilfoyle, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania, One
30Allegheny Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
