RESOLUTION
1Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
2sacrifice of United States Navy Chief ◄Petty Officer Nicolas
3D. Checque, who tragically died of combat-related injuries
4suffered December 8, 2012, while supporting operations near
5Kabul, Afghanistan.
6WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer◄ Nicolas D. Checque was raised in
7western Pennsylvania, graduating in 2002 from Norwin High School
8where he was a member of the wrestling team and classmates
9describe him as an "extraordinary, driven young man"; and
10WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer◄ Nicolas D. Checque joined the
11Navy in 2002 after graduating from high school and after
12receiving training joined the SEAL program in April 2003; and
1WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer◄ Nicolas D. Checque received the
2Bronze star and several other awards during his ten-year career;
3and
4WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer ◄Nicolas D. Checque was a member
5of the Navy's Special Warfare Development Group, more commonly
6known as SEAL Team Six, the same unit that took part in the raid
7that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden;
8WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer ◄Nicolas D. Checque sustained
9fatal injuries during his participation in SEAL Team Six's
10successful rescue of a captive doctor and two aid workers in
11Afghanistan; therefore be it
12RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
13and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of United
14States Navy Chief Petty Officer◄ Nicolas D. Checque, who
15tragically died of combat-related injuries suffered December 8,
162012, while supporting operations near Kabul, Afghanistan.
