1Honoring the 102nd anniversary of President Ronald Reagan's
2birth on February 6, 2013.

3WHEREAS, February 6, 2013, will be the 102nd anniversary of
4Ronald Wilson Reagan's birth, nine years after his death at the
5age of 93 on June 5, 2004; and

6WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan was sworn in as the 40th
7President of the United States on January 20, 1981; and

8WHEREAS, President Reagan led a remarkably productive life,
9including military service before and during World War II; work
10as a stage and movie actor, union leader and television and
11event spokesman; and public service as a popular two-term
12Governor of California; and

13WHEREAS, President Reagan is among those considered as the
14most influential presidents of the 20th century; and

15WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan, at the age of 69, was the

1oldest person ever elected President of the United States and
2served with honor and distinction for two terms; and

3WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan is remembered for his great
4connection to Americans, for restoring confidence and optimism
5in the American people and for his highly successful diplomatic
6efforts to end the Cold War; and

7WHEREAS, During Mr. Reagan's presidency he worked in a
8bipartisan manner to enact his agenda of restoring
9accountability and common sense to government which led to an
10economic expansion and opportunity for millions of Americans;
11and

12WHEREAS, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social policy
13agenda for the nation's children helped lower crime and drug use
14in our neighborhoods; and

15WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to our armed forces
16contributed to the restoration of pride in America, her values
17and those cherished by the free world, and prepared United
18States Armed Forces to meet the challenges of the 21st century;
19and

20WHEREAS, Through his grace, charm, wit and indomitable
21optimism, President Reagan conveyed the strength of character
22and greatness of America; therefore be it

23RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the 102nd
24anniversary of President Ronald Reagan's birth on February 6,
252013.
