AN ACT
1Providing for suicide prevention continuing education.
2The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
3hereby enacts as follows:
4Section 1. Short title.
5This act shall be known and may be cited as the Matt Adler
6Suicide Prevention Continuing Education Act.
7Section 2. Definitions.
8The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
9have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
10context clearly indicates otherwise:
11"Licensing board." The State Board of Psychology and the
12State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists
13and Professional Counselors.
14Section 3. Continuing education requirement.
1A licensing board shall provide that a licensee complete at
2least one hour of continuing education in the assessment,
3treatment and management of suicide risks as a portion of the
4total continuing education required for license renewal.
5Section 4. Regulations.
6A licensing board under section 3 shall promulgate
7regulations necessary to effectuate this act no later than 18
8months from the effective date of this act.
9Section 5. Effective date.
10This act shall take effect immediately.
