1Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2act relating to the public school system, including certain
3provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5laws relating thereto," requiring approval for implementation
6of common core state standards; and abrogating regulations.

7The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8hereby enacts as follows:

9Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
10as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
11section to read:

12Section 2607-B. Approval Required for Implementation of
13Common Core State Standards.--(a) Notwithstanding any other
14provision of this article, the board may not implement or take
15any action relating to common core state standards unless the
16common core state standards have been approved by the passage of
17a concurrent resolution by the General Assembly.

18(b) As used in this section, "common core state standards" 
19means the common core standards adopted by the board, published
 

1in 40 Pa.B. 4372 (July 31, 2010) and amended by the board, 
2published in 40 Pa.B. 5903 (October 16, 2010) and 42 Pa.B. 1859 
3(April 7, 2012), and any subsequent amendments to the common 
4core standards. The term includes Common Core State Standards
5and Pennsylvania Common Core Standards.

6Section 2. All regulations and parts of regulations relating
7to common core state standards which are inconsistent with this
8act are abrogated.

9Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
