AN ACT

 

1Designating the bridge on State Route 3072, Hanover Road, near
2its intersection with State Route 3092, Lake Road, in Spring
3Grove Borough, York County, as the Corporal Luke S. Runyan
4Memorial Bridge.

5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:

7Section 1. Corporal Luke S. Runyan Memorial Bridge.

8(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
9follows:

10(1) Corporal Luke S. Runyan, age 21, formerly of Spring
11Grove Borough, York County, was killed in combat on February
1217, 2008, in Diyala Province, Iraq while serving as a squad
13leader with the United States Army.

14(2) Corporal Runyan was killed during a dismounted
15engagement with insurgents while coming to the aid of another
16Army unit.

1(3) Corporal Runyan was born on June 17, 1986, in York.
2He was a 2004 graduate of Spring Grove Area High School.
3After graduation, Luke S. Runyan immediately enlisted in the
4United States Army.

5(4) Corporal Runyan is survived by his wife, Courtney,
6and daughter, Brynn, who reside in Renton, Washington.

7(b) Designation.--The bridge located on State Route 3072,
8Hanover Road, near its intersection with State Route 3092, Lake
9Road, in Spring Grove Borough, York County is hereby designated
10the Corporal Luke S. Runyan Memorial Bridge.

11(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
12maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
13traffic in both directions on the bridge.

14Section 2. Effective date.

15This act shall take effect in 60 days.
