1Amending Title 74 (Transportation) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, providing for recycling containers.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Title 74 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

7§ 8124. Recycling containers.

8(a) Availability.--If a trash receptacle is maintained for
9users of a public rest area under the jurisdiction of the
10commission, the commission shall maintain in close proximity to
11the trash receptacle a container for collecting glass, a
12container for collecting aluminum and a container for collecting
13plastic. The commission shall establish, with the local county
14recycling coordinator, a method of transporting the collected
15recyclable material to their respective markets in conjunction
16with local existing recycling programs.

1(b) Proceeds.--The commission shall retain all proceeds
2received from the recycling of items under subsection (a).

3Section 2. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission shall
4implement 74 Pa.C.S. § 8124 within one year of the effective
5date of this section.

6Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
