AN ACT

 

1Repealing the act of May 15, 1945 (P.L.545, No.215), entitled
2"An act relating to the rate of pay for policemen, firemen
3and park guards in cities of the first class; providing for a
4system whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of cities
5of the first class who shall enter, or who shall have
6entered, the military service during the present hostilities
7shall be paid upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the
8police, fire or park guard service at the same rate of pay as
9if they had actually served on the police force, fire bureau
10or park guard force of cities of the first class during the
11years, months or days they were in the military service."

12The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
13hereby enacts as follows:

14Section 1.  The act of May 15, 1945 (P.L.545, No.215),
15entitled "An act relating to the rate of pay for policemen,
16firemen and park guards in cities of the first class; providing
17for a system whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of
18cities of the first class who shall enter, or who shall have
19entered, the military service during the present hostilities
20shall be paid upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the
21police, fire or park guard service at the same rate of pay as if
22they had actually served on the police force, fire bureau or

1park guard force of cities of the first class during the years,
2months or days they were in the military service," is repealed:

4Relating to the rate of pay for policemen, firemen and park
5guards in cities of the first class; providing for a system
6whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of cities of the
7first class who shall enter, or who shall have entered, the
8military service during the present hostilities shall be paid
9upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the police, fire
10or park guard service at the same rate of pay as if they had
11actually served on the police force, fire bureau or park
12guard force of cities of the first class during the years,
13months or days they were in the military service.

14Section 1.  In order that policemen, firemen and park guards
15of cities of the first class, who, after their appointment to
16such position, have entered the armed forces of the United
17States during the present hostilities shall not be put to a
18disadvantage because of such service after the effective date of
19this act; the rate of pay accorded to such policemen, firemen or
20park guards in cities of the first class shall be the same at
21the time of their honorable discharge from the armed services
22and their re-entry into the police, fire or park guard service
23as it would have been had such policemen, firemen or park guards
24in the cities of the first class been continuously employed as
25policemen, firemen or park guards for the days, months or years
26they served in the armed forces of the United States.

27Section 2.  The provisions of this act shall become effective
28immediately upon final enactment.]

29Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
