AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, in responsible utility customer
3protection, further providing for termination of utility
4service.

5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:

7Section 1. Section 1406(g) of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania
8Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

9§ 1406. Termination of utility service.

11(g) Qualification for LIHEAP.--

12(1) A notice of termination to a customer of a public
13utility shall be sufficient proof of a crisis for a customer
14with the requisite income level to receive a LIHEAP Crisis
15Grant from the Department of Public Welfare or its designee.

16(2) It shall be a condition of acceptance by a public
17utility of a LIHEAP Crisis Grant from the Department of
18Public Welfare or its designee that the public utility will
19not terminate service to the customer within 60 days of

1acceptance of the grant and will enter into a payment
2agreement under section 1405(d) (relating to payment
3agreements) or, notwithstanding the provisions of section
41405(d), a second or subsequent payment agreement with the
5customer for payment of that portion of the bill which is not
6in dispute.

8Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
