A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the month of October 2012 as "National Principals

2

Month" in Pennsylvania and honoring the contribution of

3

principals in the elementary schools, middle schools and high

4

schools of our nation.

5

WHEREAS, The National Association of Secondary School

6

Principals and the National Association of Elementary School

7

Principals have declared the month of October 2012 as "National

8

Principals Month"; and

9

WHEREAS, Principals are educational visionaries,

10

instructional and assessment leaders, disciplinarians, community

11

builders, budget analysts, facilities managers and

12

administrators of legal and contractual obligations; and

13

WHEREAS, Principals work collaboratively with teachers and

14

parents to develop and implement a clear mission, high

15

curriculum standards and performance goals; and

16

WHEREAS, Principals create school environments that

17

facilitate great teaching and learning and continuous school

improvement; and

WHEREAS, The vision, actions and dedication of principals

3

provide the mobilizing force behind any school reform effort;

4

and

5

WHEREAS, As of the 2010-2011 school year, there were 5,000

6

principals in Pennsylvania; and

7

WHEREAS, The celebration of "National Principals Month" will

8

honor elementary school, middle school and high school

9

principals and recognize the importance of principals in

10

ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality

11

education; therefore be it

12

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of October 2012

13

as "National Principals Month" and honor the contribution of

14

principals in the elementary schools, middle schools and high

15

schools of our nation by supporting the goals and ideals of

16

"National Principals Month."
