AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

act relating to the public school system, including certain

3

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

4

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

5

laws relating thereto," providing for prohibition of certain

6

foods.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

8

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known

10

as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a

11

section to read:

Section 120.  Prohibition of Certain Foods.--(a)  No school

13

shall purchase for or serve food at a school meal that has been

14

treated with ammonium hydroxide or is otherwise considered to be

15

what is commonly referred to as "pink slime."

16

(b)  As used in this section, the term "school" means public

17

school, private school, charter school, cyber charter school,

18

nonpublic school, intermediate unit and area vocational-

19

technical school.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
