| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the |
2 | Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in juries and jurors, |
3 | further providing for exemptions from jury duty. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 4503(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding paragraphs to read: |
8 | § 4503. Exemptions from jury duty. |
9 | (a) General rule.--No person shall be exempt or excused from |
10 | jury duty except the following: |

12 | (5) Persons 75 years of age or older who request to be |
13 | excused. |
14 | (6) Judges and magisterial district judges of the |
15 | Commonwealth and judges of the United States as defined in 28 |
16 | U.S.C. § 451 (relating to definitions). |
17 | (7) Persons who have previously served for a full term |
18 | on a Statewide investigating grand jury, including any |

1 | extensions thereof, who request to be excused. |
