HOUSE RESOLUTION

INTRODUCED BY CLYMER, AUMENT, CALTAGIRONE, CAUSER, COHEN, DiGIROLAMO, EVERETT, FLECK, GEIST, GEORGE, GINGRICH, HARHART, JAMES, KORTZ, MAJOR, MILLARD, M. O'BRIEN, PICKETT, READSHAW, ROCK, ROSS, SANTONI, SCAVELLO, SONNEY AND SWANGER, OCTOBER 4, 2012

INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, OCTOBER 4, 2012  

A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of October 2012 as "Archives Month" in

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, The historical documents and records of our nation

and our Commonwealth provide a crucial link to our past; and

WHEREAS, Appreciating this heritage and its lessons provides

immeasurable guidance for our future; and

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives has an established

archival repository for the records of elected members,

committees and administrative agencies of that body; and

WHEREAS, These historical records and documents, if not

professionally collected, cataloged and preserved by dedicated

archivists and staff and housed in a secure location, would be

lost to future generations of our citizens; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the

invaluable contribution of its archival repository and its

committed staff members; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

month of October 2012 as "Archives Month" in Pennsylvania; and

be it further

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all

Pennsylvanians to visit their local archives, historical

repositories and libraries to learn more about the contributions

of historical documents and records to the discovery of the rich

heritage of this Commonwealth.
