A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the outstanding contributions of the Pennsylvania

2

Academy of Family Physicians and all family physicians in

3

this Commonwealth.

4

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP)

5

is one of the largest medical specialty societies in this

6

Commonwealth and represents more than 4,800 members, including

7

practicing family physicians, family medicine residents and

8

medical students; and

9

WHEREAS, The members of PAFP are dedicated to the dignity and

10

well-being of all Pennsylvanians by providing accessible,

11

continuing, comprehensive and quality health care; and

12

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's family physicians emphasize the

13

importance of providing wellness, preventive and primary care

14

necessary to restrain ever-increasing health care costs; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania faces an acute need for primary care

2

providers, especially in medically underserved areas; and

3

WHEREAS, Due to the leadership of PAFP, this Commonwealth has

4

one of the highest numbers of Patient-Centered Medical Home

5

Providers in the nation which are recognized by the National

6

Committee for Quality Assurance; and

7

WHEREAS, The members of PAFP encourage medical students to

8

make a commitment to provide primary care medical services in

9

medically underserved areas of this Commonwealth and have been

10

instrumental in this Commonwealth's retention of the majority of

11

its family medicine resident physicians; therefore be it

12

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the

13

outstanding contributions of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family

14

Physicians and all family physicians in this Commonwealth.
