A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and service of Mr. Frank Gigliotti and

2

extending condolences to his family and many colleagues.

3

WHEREAS, Lovingly known as "Gigs" amongst his friends, Frank

4

Gigliotti was widely regarded as a power broker and a political

5

force throughout his tenure as a public servant of the Greater

6

Pittsburgh area; and

7

WHEREAS, Frank Gigliotti was born October 30, 1942, in

8

Pittsburgh and raised in the Brookline neighborhood; and

9

WHEREAS, In 1969, Mr. Gigliotti graduated from South Hills

10

High School; and

11

WHEREAS, Upon graduating from high school, Frank enrolled in

12

and attended the Carnegie Mellon Managerial School; and

13

WHEREAS, As a member of the Local 66 of the International

14

Union of Operating Engineers, Mr. Gigliotti worked in the

construction field for several years as a heavy equipment

2

operator; and

3

WHEREAS, In 1975, he was hired on with the Pittsburgh

4

Department of Public Works; and

5

WHEREAS, From 1981 through 1987, Frank Gigliotti would serve

6

as the city's manager of the public safety fleet and as

7

Superintendent of the Department of Public Works; and

8

WHEREAS, During this time, Frank would become a leader in

9

local politics, capturing the Democratic Chairmanship of the

10

19th Ward in 1982; and

11

WHEREAS, In 1988, Frank was elected as State Representative

12

of the 22nd Legislative District; and

13

WHEREAS, Frank Gigliotti devoted himself to representing the

14

interests and needs of the working-class residents of the South

15

Hills section of Pittsburgh; and

16

WHEREAS, Frank Gigliotti was and always will be remembered as

17

a savvy and affable politician within political circles and

18

amongst his colleagues; and

19

WHEREAS, On August 7, 2011, Frank Gigliotti passed away at 68

20

years old, leaving behind a legacy of nearly two decades of

21

public service on behalf of the residents of the Greater

22

Pittsburgh area; therefore be it

23

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its

24

profound sorrow over the passing of Mr. Frank Gigliotti and

25

extend its heartfelt condolences to that of his family, friends

26

and colleagues.
