INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JUNE 21, 2011  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing September 5 through 15, 2011, as "Pennsylvania

Returning Heroes VIP (Vacation in PA) Weeks" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, To honor and recognize those Pennsylvania military

personnel returning home from a tour of duty overseas, a number

of tourism businesses and attractions in Lancaster County will

offer the heroes discounts during the Pennsylvania Returning

Heroes VIP (Vacation in PA) Weeks program September 5 through

15, 2011; and

WHEREAS, This program is a way for a grateful citizenry to

welcome home its sons and daughters in arms and thank them for a

job well done; and

WHEREAS, To be eligible for discounts, military personnel

just need to show their military identification and proof of

overseas combat deployment in the past year to participating

Lancaster County tourism businesses; and

WHEREAS, Lancaster County has a large number of recreational,

historical, outdoor and cultural attractions that are enjoyed by

millions of visitors every year; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines

who return home after a tour in Afghanistan or the Middle East

are well deserving of a relaxing, affordable vacation in their

home State; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize

September 5 through 15, 2011, as "Pennsylvania Returning Heroes

VIP (Vacation in PA) Weeks" in Pennsylvania; and be it further

RESOLVED, That other Pennsylvania counties be encouraged to

join Lancaster in establishing their own VIP program for

military personnel returning home to Pennsylvania from an

overseas combat tour.
