A RESOLUTION

Urging the Governor to issue a proclamation to observe January

2

30, 2011, as "Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Day" in

3

Pennsylvania, and requesting the Governor to appoint a

4

committee to investigate and recommend how the Commonwealth

5

can best commemorate "Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Day"

6

on an annual basis to recognize residents with disabilities

7

who have distinguished themselves and this Commonwealth in

8

the spirit of the late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

WHEREAS, The act of May 26, 1988 (P.L.413, No.71), designated

10

January 30, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's birthday, as "Day of the

11

Disabled"; and

12

WHEREAS, The act of June 2, 1993 (P.L.44, No.14), amended the

13

act of May 26, 1988 (P.L.413, No.71), to designate January 30,

14

Franklin Delano Roosevelt's birthday, as "Pennsylvanians with

15

Disabilities Day"; and

16

WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Day is meant,

17

according to the act of June 2, 1993 (P.L.44, No.14), to

recognize and honor "citizens of Pennsylvania who have

2

disabilities"; therefore be it

3

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the Governor

4

to issue a proclamation to observe January 30, 2011, as

5

"Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Day" in Pennsylvania; and be

6

it further

7

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the Governor

8

to appoint a committee to investigate and recommend how the

9

Commonwealth may best commemorate "Pennsylvanians with

10

Disabilities Day" on an annual basis to appropriately recognize

11

residents with disabilities who have distinguished themselves

12

and this Commonwealth in the spirit of the late President

13

Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

15

the Governor.
