| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Making an appropriation to the Department of Education to |
2 | promote activities and services to increase the preparation, |
3 | enrollment and success of low-income students in |
4 | postsecondary education. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Legislative intent. |
8 | The General Assembly finds and declares as follows: |
9 | (1) It is the intent of the General Assembly to continue |
10 | to promote activities and services to increase the |
11 | preparation, enrollment and success of low-income students in |
12 | postsecondary education. |
13 | (2) This act provides funding to continue activities in |
14 | this Commonwealth previously carried out under the federally |
15 | funded College Access Challenge Grant Program by supporting |
16 | these activities and services with State funds. |
17 | Section 2. Appropriation. |
18 | The sum of $7,034,000, or as much hereof as may be necessary, |

1 | is hereby appropriated to the Department of Education for the |
2 | fiscal year July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013, to promote |
3 | activities and services to increase the preparation, enrollment |
4 | and success of low-income students in postsecondary education. |
5 | Section 3. Effective date. |
6 | This act shall take effect immediately. |
