| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the month of October 2009 as "Health Literacy Month" |
2 | in Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Health Literacy Month was founded in 1999 by Helen |
4 | Osborne, M.Ed., to raise awareness of the importance of |
5 | providing health care patients with clear, understandable health |
6 | information; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Health Literacy Month will be observed worldwide |
8 | throughout the month of October 2009; and |
9 | WHEREAS, The theme for Health Literacy Month in 2009 is "Why |
10 | Health Literacy Matters: Sharing Our Stories in Words, Pictures |
11 | and Sound"; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Health literacy is a responsibility shared by many |
13 | partners of the health care system, including governmental |
14 | leaders; therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of October 2009 |
16 | as "Health Literacy Month" in Pennsylvania. |
