| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania |
2 | Consolidated Statutes, further providing for fines. |
3 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
4 | hereby enacts as follows: |
5 | Section 1. Section 1101 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania |
6 | Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: |
7 | § 1101. Fines. |
8 | A person who has been convicted of an offense may be |
9 | sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding: |
10 | (1) [$50,000] $100,000, when the conviction is of murder |
11 | or attempted murder. |
12 | (2) [$25,000] $50,000, when the conviction is of a |
13 | felony of the first or second degree. |
14 | (3) [$15,000] $30,000, when the conviction is of a |
15 | felony of the third degree. |
16 | (4) [$10,000] $20,000, when the conviction is of a |
17 | misdemeanor of the first degree. |
18 | (5) [$5,000] $10,000, when the conviction is of a |

1 | misdemeanor of the second degree. |
2 | (6) [$2,500] $5,000, when the conviction is of a |
3 | misdemeanor of the third degree. |
4 | (7) [$300] $600, when the conviction is of a summary |
5 | offense for which no higher fine is established. |
6 | (8) Any higher amount equal to double the pecuniary gain |
7 | derived from the offense by the offender. |
8 | (9) Any higher or lower amount specifically authorized |
9 | by statute. |
10 | Section 2. This act shall apply to all offenses committed |
11 | after the effective date of this act. |
12 | Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
