| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An |
2 | act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public |
3 | welfare laws of the Commonwealth," further providing for |
4 | payments to counties for services to children. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Section 704.1(g) of the act of June 13, 1967 |
8 | (P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, added July 9, |
9 | 1976 (P.L.846, No.148), is amended and the section is amended by |
10 | adding a subsection to read: |
11 | Section 704.1. Payments to Counties for Services to |
12 | Children.--* * * |
13 | (b.1) Payments shall be made in equal quarterly installments |
14 | of the amount fixed by section 709.3, the first of which shall |
15 | be for the quarter beginning July 1 and ending September 30; the |
16 | second installment shall be for the quarter beginning October 1 |
17 | and ending December 31; the third installment shall be for the |
18 | quarter beginning January 1 and ending March 31; and the fourth |

1 | installment shall be for the quarter beginning April 1 and |
2 | ending June 30; the local contribution required under this |
3 | section shall not be required to be paid until the fourth |
4 | quarter payment is due. The quarterly payment shall be paid at |
5 | the beginning of each quarter for which the county institution |
6 | district or its successor has budgeted an amount equal to one |
7 | quarter of the annual local contribution required. At the close |
8 | of the fourth quarter, the total payments made to the county |
9 | institution district or its successor in accordance with section |
10 | 709.3 shall be reconciled and adjusted in accordance with this |
11 | section and section 709.3. |

13 | [(g) The department shall, within forty-five days of each |
14 | calendar quarter, pay fifty percent of the department's share of |
15 | the county institution district's or its successor's estimated |
16 | expenditures for that quarter.] |

18 | Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately. |
