AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

2

act relating to the public school system, including certain

3

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

4

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

5

laws relating thereto," in education improvement tax credit,

6

further providing for the eligibility of summer pre-

7

kindergarten programs.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

9

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The definition of "pre-kindergarten program" in

11

section 2002-B of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14),

12

known as the Public School Code of 1949, amended July 11, 2006

13

(P.L.1092, No.114), is amended to read:

The following words and phrases when used in this article

shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the

17

context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Pre-kindergarten program."  A program of instruction for

3

three-year-old or four-year-old students that utilizes a

4

curriculum aligned with the curriculum of the school with which

5

it is affiliated and which provides a minimum of either:

6

(1)  two hours of instructional and developmental

7

activities per day at least 60 days per school year; or

8

(2)  one hundred and twenty hours of instructional

development activities per twelve-month period two hours of

10

instructional and developmental activities per day at least

11

20 days over the summer recess.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
