AN ACT

Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An

2

act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public

3

welfare laws of the Commonwealth," further providing for

4

payments to counties for services to children.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 704.1(g) of the act of June 13, 1967

8

(P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, added July 9,

9

1976 (P.L.846, No.148), is amended and the section is amended by

10

adding a subsection to read:

Section 704.1.  Payments to Counties for Services to

12

Children.--* * *

(b.1)  Payments shall be made in equal quarterly installments

14

of the amount fixed by section 709.3, the first of which shall

15

be for the quarter beginning July 1 and ending September 30; the

16

second installment shall be for the quarter beginning October 1

and ending December 31; the third installment shall be for the

2

quarter beginning January 1 and ending March 31; and the fourth

3

installment shall be for the quarter beginning April 1 and

4

ending June 30; the local contribution required under this

5

section shall not be required to be paid until the fourth

6

quarter payment is due. The quarterly payment shall be paid at

7

the beginning of each quarter for which the county institution

8

district or its successor has budgeted an amount equal to one

9

quarter of the annual local contribution required. At the close

10

of the fourth quarter, the total payments made to the county

11

institution district or its successor in accordance with section

12

709.3 shall be reconciled and adjusted in accordance with this

13

section and section 709.3.

[(g)  The department shall, within forty-five days of each

16

calendar quarter, pay fifty percent of the department's share of

17

the county institution district's or its successor's estimated

18

expenditures for that quarter.]
