AN ACT

Amending Title 71 (State Government) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, defining "Commonwealth firefighter or

3

firefighter instructor"; and further defining "superannuation

4

age."

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The definition of "superannuation age" in section

8

5102 of Title 71 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is

9

amended and the section is amended by adding a definition to

10

read:

§ 5102.  Definitions.

12

The following words and phrases as used in this part, unless

13

a different meaning is plainly required by the context, shall

14

have the following meanings:

"Commonwealth firefighter or firefighter instructor."  An

17

employee of the Commonwealth engaged in any of the following:

18

(1)  Specialized structural and aircraft firefighting.

(2)  Fire prevention or fire inspection of buildings or

2

aircraft owned or maintained by the Commonwealth.

3

(3)  Specialized training of emergency service and allied

4

professionals at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.

"Superannuation age."  Any age upon accrual of 35 eligibility

7

points or age 60, except for a member of the General Assembly,

8

an enforcement officer, a correction officer, a psychiatric

9

security aide, a Delaware River Port Authority policeman, a

10

Commonwealth firefighter or firefighter instructor or an officer

11

of the Pennsylvania State Police, age 50, and, except for a

12

member with Class G, Class H, Class I, Class J, Class K, Class

13

L, Class M or Class N service, age 55 upon accrual of 20

14

eligibility points.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
