A RESOLUTION
1 Proclaiming the week of July 13 through 19, 2008, as "Probation,
2 Parole and Community Supervision Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Community corrections is an essential part of the
4 criminal justice system; and
5 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals uphold the law
6 with dignity, while recognizing the right of the public to be
7 safe-guarded from criminal activity; and
8 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are responsible
9 for supervising adult and juvenile offenders in the community;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are trained
12 professionals who provide services and referrals for offenders;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals work in
15 partnership with community agencies and groups; and
16 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals promote
17 prevention, intervention and advocacy; and
1 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals provide
2 services, support and protection for victims; and
3 WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals advocate
4 community and restorative justice; therefore be it
5 RESOLVED, That the Senate proclaim July 13 through 19, 2008,
6 as "Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week" in
7 Pennsylvania; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That all citizens be encouraged to honor our
9 community corrections professionals and to recognize their
10 achievements.
