No. 212 Session of 2007


        INTRODUCED BY O'PAKE, TARTAGLIONE, KASUNIC, ORIE, FONTANA,
           LAVALLE, STOUT, PUNT, PIPPY, RAFFERTY, BRUBAKER, MUSTO,
           C. WILLIAMS, WAUGH, ERICKSON, ARMSTRONG, BROWNE, LOGAN,
           ROBBINS, GREENLEAF, WONDERLING, EARLL, TOMLINSON, MELLOW,
           COSTA, KITCHEN AND WASHINGTON, NOVEMBER 13, 2007

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, NOVEMBER 13, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating November 14, 2007, as "Leukemia, Lymphoma and
     2     Myeloma Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma will, according to
     4  statistics, kill an estimated 2,820 people in this Commonwealth
     5  this year; and
     6     WHEREAS, The National Cancer Institute of the National
     7  Institutes of Health is committed to the elimination of
     8  suffering and death due to cancers affecting blood by the year
     9  2015; and
    10     WHEREAS, The Senate is similarly committed to the eradication
    11  of blood cancers and supports the treatment of people in this
    12  Commonwealth who suffer from them; and
    13     WHEREAS, The Senate will continue efforts to provide support
    14  for research and other efforts that will lead to a complete cure
    15  for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate November 14, 2007, as


     1  "Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Awareness Day" to enhance the
     2  understanding of cancers affecting blood, encourage
     3  participation in voluntary activities to support education
     4  programs and support the funding of research programs to find a
     5  cure for blood cancers.
