AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the
3 number of judges in the courts of common pleas.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 911(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes, amended November 30, 2004 (P.L.1703,
8 No.217), is amended to read:
9 § 911. Courts of common pleas.
10 (a) General rule.--There shall be one court of common pleas
11 for each judicial district of this Commonwealth consisting of
12 the following number of judges:

28 Section 2. (a) The provisions of 42 Pa.C.S. § 3135 shall
29 not be applicable to the selection of judges for the judgeships
30 created in the amendment of 42 Pa.C.S. § 911(a).

1 (b) The new judgeships added by the amendment of 42 Pa.C.S.
2 § 911(a) shall be established on January 4, 2010, and shall be
3 initially filled by election at the 2009 municipal election.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
