A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing May 21, 2008, as "Emergency Medical Services for 2 Children Day" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children supports 4 emergency medical services (EMS) providers, whose presence is 5 vital to children in need; and 6 WHEREAS, The needs of children are different from the needs 7 of adults in medical emergencies; and 8 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children promotes the 9 high-level emergency care given by EMS providers with pediatric 10 emergency skills; and 11 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children assists in 12 the implementation of training for use of advanced technical 13 equipment and services in preparation to save children's lives; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, EMS providers are unceasingly prepared to respond to 16 children who access the system and to return them to an optimum
1 level of health; and 2 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children works with 3 physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, emergency 4 medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, 5 administrators and others to identify and address the issues 6 surrounding the provision of optimal pediatric care; and 7 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children assists in 8 the development of training programs and guidelines for 9 emergency care providers so that children with special health 10 care needs receive timely, appropriate care; and 11 WHEREAS, It is proper and timely to bring recognition to the 12 value and accomplishments of those dedicated to improving 13 emergency care for children; therefore be it 14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize May 21, 15 2008, as "Emergency Medical Services for Children Day" in 16 Pennsylvania and encourage residents of this Commonwealth to 17 observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies and 18 activities.
