        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JULY 9, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the importance of after-school programs to this
     2     Commonwealth.

     3     WHEREAS, Nearly 1.3 million school-age children and youths in
     4  Pennsylvania have working parents; and
     5     WHEREAS, After-school and youth development programs play an
     6  important role in the healthy development of our children and
     7  ultimately in the success of our communities; and
     8     WHEREAS, Research demonstrates that high-quality programming
     9  improves student achievement, reduces crime by and against
    10  youths and promotes positive social development; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
    12  importance of after-school programs to this Commonwealth.
