        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 23, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating May 1, 2007, as "Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
     4  organization working with police departments, public works
     5  departments, schools, businesses and concerned citizens in
     6  communities nationwide to decrease speeding in residential
     7  neighborhoods; and
     8     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 promotes awareness of the
     9  serious consequences of driving above the posted residential
    10  speed limit of 25 miles per hour in most jurisdictions; and
    11     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 uses neighborhood
    12  networking and temporary signs posted in residents' yards to
    13  urge drivers to observe residential speed limits; and


     1     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is encouraging communities
     2  to increase their efforts to inform the public about the risks
     3  of speeding and the significant danger to children as summer
     4  approaches; and
     5     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is asking communities in
     6  this Commonwealth to join communities across the United States
     7  in a national public awareness campaign kicking off on May Day,
     8  May 1, 2007; and
     9     WHEREAS, Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 is assisting communities in
    10  their efforts through educational literature, press releases,
    11  print and radio advertisements, flyers and concepts for hosting
    12  special events in neighborhoods, schools and businesses; and
    13     WHEREAS, The goal of this residential speed control campaign
    14  is to save the lives of children, pedestrians and cyclists in
    15  our communities; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 1,
    17  2007, as "Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 Day" in Pennsylvania.
