        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 13, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 26, 2007, as "Parent to Parent Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, When parents of young children with disabilities are
     4  asked who can best support them emotionally, their first choice
     5  is other parents who have had or are having the same or similar
     6  experience; and
     7     WHEREAS, Sharing experiences with others in similar
     8  circumstances is an important source of social support,
     9  especially for the parents of young children with disabilities;
    10  and
    11     WHEREAS, In 1996 Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania was founded
    12  by parents in this Commonwealth to provide a network for such
    13  people by offering individual and group support; and

     1     WHEREAS, More than 1,300 peer supporters throughout this
     2  Commonwealth give of their time, energy and expertise to help
     3  others through Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania; and
     4     WHEREAS, On April 26, 2007, Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania
     5  celebrates ten years of service to the community; therefore be
     6  it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
     8  26, 2007, as "Parent to Parent Day" in Pennsylvania.
