           GIBBONS, GINGRICH, HENNESSEY, MAJOR, McILHATTAN, MUSTIO,
           O'NEILL, PALLONE, PAYNE, PICKETT, RAMALEY, READSHAW, SAINATO,

        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 20, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of April 2007 as "Foot Health Awareness
     2     Month" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) is
     4  setting aside the month of April 2007 to promote public
     5  awareness of foot health and offer foot health tips; and
     6     WHEREAS, The month of April 2007 is being designated as "Foot
     7  Health Awareness Month" to call attention to the importance of
     8  good foot and ankle care and to encourage all Americans to stop
     9  and take a good look at their feet; and
    10     WHEREAS, The importance of good foot health and the role of
    11  podiatric physicians cannot be overstated; and
    12     WHEREAS, Most Americans develop some foot or ankle problem
    13  during their lifetime; and
    14     WHEREAS, The APMA strives to emphasize the importance of
    15  preventive care; and


     1     WHEREAS, The APMA has developed several consumer-friendly
     2  tools, including quizzes on general foot health and heel pain, a
     3  commemorative poster and fact sheets relating to foot problems
     4  ranging from athlete's foot to warts; and
     5     WHEREAS, "Foot Health Awareness Month" is a true opportunity
     6  for APMA members to educate the public about the importance of
     7  good foot health; and
     8     WHEREAS, Founded in 1912, the APMA is the nation's leading
     9  professional society for foot and ankle specialists; and
    10     WHEREAS, The association has component societies in 53
    11  locations throughout the United States and its territories and a
    12  membership of more than 10,000 doctors of podiatric medicine;
    13  therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    15  month of April 2007 as "Foot Health Awareness Month" in
    16  Pennsylvania.
