A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the week of February 24 through March 3, 2007, as 2 "Entrepreneurship Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Entrepreneurship is vital to Pennsylvania's growth 4 and prosperity; and 5 WHEREAS, Most of the new jobs created throughout the United 6 States in the past decade have come from the creative efforts of 7 entrepreneurs and small businesses; and 8 WHEREAS, The Partnership for 21st Century Skills has 9 identified entrepreneurial literacy skills as one of the content 10 areas critical to success in communities and workplaces; and 11 WHEREAS, More than 70% of young Americans envision starting a 12 small business or being entrepreneurs as adults; and
1 WHEREAS, A broad coalition of partner organizations in 2 Pennsylvania and throughout the United States is actively 3 engaged in enhancing entrepreneurial opportunities through the 4 Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education; and 5 WHEREAS, Encouraging youths to be excited about 6 entrepreneurship and expanding the entrepreneurial knowledge, 7 skills and attitudes of Pennsylvania's youths and adults are 8 crucial to the long-term growth of local communities, the State 9 and the nation; and 10 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's career and technical student 11 organizations offer an array of programs, activities and 12 competitive events focused on entrepreneurship; and 13 WHEREAS, "EntrepreneurshipWeek USA" is a national effort to 14 focus on the innovative ways in which entrepreneurship education 15 can successfully bring together the core academic, technical and 16 problem-solving skills essential for future entrepreneurs and 17 workers; and 18 WHEREAS, In June 2006 the House of Representatives of the 19 109th Congress adopted a resolution supporting the annual 20 observance of "National Entrepreneurship Week"; therefore be it 21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 22 week of February 24 through March 3, 2007, as "Entrepreneurship 23 Week" in Pennsylvania.
