AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for increases in
6 payments on account of approved vocational extension classes
7 and pre-employment training.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 2507 of the act of March 10, 1949
11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
12 amended August 5, 1991 (P.L.219, No.25), is amended to read:
13 Section 2507. Payments on Account of Approved Vocational
14 Extension Classes and Pre-employment Training.--(a) Every
15 school district and every vocational school district and area
16 vocational-technical school, regardless of classification, shall
17 be paid by the Commonwealth for every school year, on account of
18 approved vocational extension classes and pre-employment
19 training, eighty per cent (80%) of the sum which was expended by
20 the district or area vocational-technical school for the
1 compensation of vocational extension and pre-employment training 2 teachers and supervisors. 3 (b) For the purpose of computing reimbursement, the maximum 4 compensation shall be four dollars ($4.00) per hour for the 5 1985-1986 through the 1989-1990 school years and eight dollars 6 and sixty cents ($8.60) per hour for the 1990-1991 school year 7 through the 2007-2008 school year; and sixteen dollars and 8 eighty cents ($16.80) for the 2008-2009 school year and twenty- 9 five dollars ($25.00) for the 2009-2010 school year and each 10 school year thereafter as adjusted annually by the percentage 11 increase in the average of the Statewide average weekly wage and 12 the employment cost index as those terms are defined in section 13 302 of the act of June 27, 2006 (1st Sp.Sess., P.L.1873, No.1), 14 known as the Taxpayer Relief Act, and the amount expended for 15 supervisory salaries shall not exceed twenty per cent (20%) of 16 the sum expended for teachers' salaries: Provided, That in 17 special cases when travel time or unusual preparation of 18 instructional materials or other factors result in an inadequate 19 compensation, the Department of Education may approve additional 20 reimbursable employment time for such additional services upon 21 the submission of adequate substantiative evidence from the 22 responsible superintendent of schools. 23 (c) For the 1985-1986 school year and each school year 24 thereafter, the Commonwealth shall pay the amount required by 25 this section to the school district or area vocational-technical 26 school which provided the approved vocational extension classes 27 and pre-employment training for which reimbursement is made. 28 Section 2.
