                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating the portion of U.S. Route 219 bypass in Johnsonburg,
     2     Elk County, as the Sam Guaglianone Bypass.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Sam Guaglianone Bypass.
     6     (a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
     7  follows:
     8         (1)  Sam Guaglianone was born in Johnsonburg,
     9     Pennsylvania on January 27, 1925, and, except while serving
    10     in the Army or pursuing higher education, lived in
    11     Johnsonburg for over 83 years.
    12         (2)  Sam Guaglianone was a graduate of Johnsonburg School
    13     System, the United States Army Finance School, and the Bryant
    14     & Stratton Business Institute.


     1         (3)  Sam Guaglianone was a licensed insurance agent and
     2     broker and a real estate agent for over 50 years.
     3         (4)  Sam Guaglianone earned four battle stars while in
     4     the United States Army during World War II.
     5         (5)  Sam Guaglianone is or has been a member, director or
     6     officer of the following organizations: the Pennsylvania Fish
     7     Commission; Johnsonburg Community TV; Johnsonburg Borough
     8     Council; Johnsonburg Civil Service Commission; Johnsonburg
     9     Area Development Corporation; Johnsonburg Rotary Club;
    10     Johnsonburg National Bank; Warren National Bank; Elk &
    11     Cameron Auto Club (AAA); West Pennsylvania/West Virginia
    12     (AAA); Elk County General Hospital; Dickinson Mental Health
    13     Center; Stackpole Hall Elk County Development Foundation;
    14     Stackpole Hall Long-range Planning Committee; and various
    15     social, civic, sportsmen's and veteran's organizations.
    16         (6)  Sam Guaglianone is transferring ownership of an
    17     island he owned to the Pennsylvania Department of
    18     Transportation without any litigation so that the bridge
    19     could be built as part of the Johnsonburg U.S. Route 219
    20     Bypass.
    21     (b)  Designation.--That portion of the U.S. Route 219 Bypass
    22  in Johnsonburg, Elk County, is hereby designated as the "Sam
    23  Guaglianone Bypass."
    24     (c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    25  maintain appropriate signs to indicate the designation under
    26  subsection (b).
    27  Section 2.  Effective date.
    28     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
