                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for occupational limited license.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 1553(d) introductory paragraph and (1) of
     6  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended
     7  and subsection (a) is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
     8  § 1553.  Occupational limited license.
     9     (a)  Issuance.--
    10         * * *
    11         (3)  If an applicant is not licensed to drive in this or
    12     any other state, the licensee shall not be issued an
    13     occupational limited license but shall be permitted to apply
    14     for a Class C learner's permit under the provisions of
    15     section 1505(a) (relating to learners' permits). Thirty days
    16     after the issuance of the learner's permit, the applicant
    17     shall be eligible to test for a driver's license under the


     1     provisions of section 1508(a) (relating to examination of
     2     applicant for driver's license). If the applicant
     3     successfully passes all the required examinations, the
     4     department may issue an occupational limited license to the
     5     applicant.

     7     (d)  Unauthorized issuance.--The department shall prohibit
     8  issuance of an occupational limited license to any of the
     9  following:
    10         (1)  [A] Except as provided in subsection (a)(3), a
    11     driver who is not licensed to drive by this or any other
    12     state.

    14     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
