                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 74 (Transportation) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for appointment of
     3     board members.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 1713(a)(3) of Title 74 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 1713.  Appointment of board members.
     9     (a)  Appointment.--Except as provided in subsection (d) with
    10  respect to the continuation in office of members of the board of
    11  any authority established under the former provisions of Article
    12  III of the act of January 22, 1968 (P.L.42, No.8), known as the
    13  Pennsylvania Urban Mass Transportation Law, or the former
    14  provisions of Chapter 15 (relating to metropolitan
    15  transportation authorities), at any time after the effective
    16  date of this chapter:

     1         (3)  The county commissioners or the county council in
     2     each county [and, in any county of the first class containing
     3     a city of the first class, the mayor, with the approval of
     4     the city council,] may appoint two persons from each county
     5     to serve as board members. The mayor in any county of the
     6     first class containing a city of the first class may appoint
     7     four persons from the county to serve as board members. The
     8     city council president in any county of the first class
     9     containing a city of the first class may appoint one person
    10     from the county to serve as a board member.
