                                     AN ACT

     1  Prohibiting the use of nonwooden bats in baseball and softball.

     2     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     3  hereby enacts as follows:
     4  Section 1.  Short title.
     5     This act shall be known and may be cited as the Baseball and
     6  Softball Bat Safety Act.
     7  Section 2.  Prohibition of nonwooden bats.
     8     (a)  Players.--An individual under 18 years of age may not
     9  use a bat which is not made of wood to play baseball or
    10  softball.
    11     (b)  Organizations.--A person that organizes activity for
    12  playing baseball or softball may not permit an individual under
    13  18 years of age to use a bat which is not made of wood to play
    14  baseball or softball.
    15     (c)  Penalty.--
    16         (1)  An individual who violates subsection (a) commits a
    17     summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to


     1     pay a fine of $25.
     2         (2)  A person that violates subsection (b) commits a
     3     summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to
     4     pay a fine of $50.
     5  Section 10.  Effective date.
     6     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
