AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for a board of
6 control.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 1707-B(b) of the act of March 10, 1949
10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
11 amended November 22, 2000 (P.L.672, No.91), is amended to read:
12 Section 1707-B. Boards of Control for Certain School
13 Districts.--* * *
14 (b) A board of control in an education empowerment district
15 certified under this section shall consist of [five (5)] seven
16 (7) residents of the school district [who], five (5) of whom
17 shall be appointed by the mayor of the coterminous city within
18 fourteen (14) days of the certification of the school district
19 as an education empowerment district and two (2) of whom shall
1 be elected by and from the members of the elected board of
2 school directors. Members of the board of control shall serve at
3 the pleasure of the mayor.

5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
